The first six of these stories were written for me.
Mr. Yunioshi's Photographs by
osprey_archer - Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gen - fabulous and a little heartbreaking backstory for Mr. Yunioshi. Makes the character real and complex and compelling in a way the movie never allowed him to be.
Such A Lot by
BowlerHatGirl - Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gen - An interesting and unusual backstory for the character of Mr. Yunioshi, taking the grossly racist stereotypes of the movie, and offensive casting of a white actor for the role, and turning them into deliberate choices of the character.
One Day by
isilfic - Roman Holiday, Joe Bradley/Princess Ann - A look at Joe's life in the years after his encounter with Ann in Rome, nicely grounded in the events of the time.
would still rejoice by
solvent, Joe Bradley/Princess Ann - More wonderful future-fic, this one from Ann's perspective. Great characterization and an ending that left me smiling for hours.
Like Graffiti on the Walls of the Heartland by
finesharp - Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown, Gen - I can't believe there's now fic for this album. Gloria in the wake of the riots, shaken, but not helpless, or hopeless.
Life is Calling by
florahart - Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown, Gen - More wonderful Gloria fic. Makeup and graffiti and revolution. Pure awesomeness.
how you deal with everything that's out of your own control by
eudaimon - Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer, Gen - A meeting of two strangers on a train. Lovely and horrific and perfect.
A Female Occupation by
featherlane - Amanda Palmer, Gen - Rape culture turned on it's head. Creepy and strange and wonderful and hopeful. (Warning for graphic description of attempted rape)
Rumors of Rain by
teaotter - Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer, OFC/OMC - It never would have occurred to me to write fic for this song, and yet this is wonderful. Wonderfully sketched out original characters and captures the spirit of the song perfectly.
A Perfect Honeymoon by
delilah_joy - Some Like it Hot, Daphne/Osgood - OMG AWESOME transgendered take on the ending of the movie, in which Jerry decides to remain Daphne and marry Osgood. I love this author forever for taking these two and their relationship, and Daphne's choices, seriously.
The Worse (Or Better) For Wine By
farasha - The Philadelphia Story, Dexter/Mike with strong implications of Dexter/Mike/Tracy - One of my favorite movies, and OT3s of all time. A fabulous story that's entirely true to the original with snappy dialogue and great characterizations
Caviar Sandwiches and Beer by
clio_jlh - The Philadelphia Story, Mike/Elizabeth, Dexter/Tracy - Epistolary WWII fic. Combines one of my favorite movies with one of my favorite narrative tropes. Made. Of. Win.
The Art-Auction Racket by
linaerys - The Sting, Johnny Hooker/Henry Gondorff - A fabulous, intricately constructed con absolutely in the spirit of the movie, with great characterization and a believable progression to the slash.
Counts, Curves and Cognac by
cousinshelley Victor Victoria, Gen - Wonderful Victor and Toddy friendship fic.
Tomorrow Comes With No Guarantee by
Grevling - Victor Victoria, Gen - Toddy in Paris after Victoria leaves. Wistful and lovely.
Down By The Schoolyard by
delilah_joy - Paul Simon - Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard, Narrator/Julio - So. Awesome. A great, slashy explanation for the events of the song.
